This allows me to drop into and out of overdub mode without ever taking my hands off the pads. I have been away from the MPC for a number of years now, so I'm not sure if this functionality evolved in the later MPC software.I use a footswitch with my 2500, set to OVERDUB/PLAY. While I didn't use a foot switch with my MPC1K back in the day, I'm pretty sure there was both a footswitch input and a page for foot switch options. I guess the question I have is how feasible it is to assign the various functions I would need to a controller? For instance, are all of the MPC's transport functions and looper functions setup in such a way that a standard midi controller could be used to control them, or would Akai have to build this into the software? Does anyone have experience with a midi controller and one of the earlier MPCs? How hard was it to set up? That top one is a bit much for my purposes, but one of the smaller ones would be good. I'm still hoping they come correct with these MPCs, though. I don't need to drop a g to lay down drums and one shot sounds. Kinda kills the point of standalone for me. I use glide and sidechain too early in the creative process to be bouncing back and forth all the time.

Just a few thoughts This is why I opted for Push 2. like I said I do miss the days of strictly hardware (Mpc 60II/Mpc 2500 and Fantom X plus a few modules) was something about that workflow of scrolling through sounds on the Fantom and modules being sequenced by the mpc was blazing fast for me. If your gonna add audio tracks then really add them, not to just sequences but for songs as well but maybe in an update but who knows. One thing I was thinking is I love all the possibilities of working in the box but I feel I got more music done back in the days of hardware and as awesome is the Mpc sequencer is it's still a bit behind the times for me, things like gliding notes(808s) I need to have on hand and if your gonna make it a workstation/seq/daw why only 8 audio tracks and why tie those 8 tracks to a sequence, so if I record a guitar lick (or anything for that matter) that starts at the end of a verse but ends slightly into the chorus that's a no go and I don't want to transfer to Ableton or Logic just for that, wanna keep it there where I'm being creative at.
